He could be so hotheaded. Not like her. She had her own, firm mind and that was that. Most women he met in town easily succumbed to his baby blues, the uniform and his marching baton.

But not Marian. The librarian. No-siree-bob. She had her books, her mother and her brother. Harold did not factor in. She was pretty sure of that.
